Freedom Alloys, Inc. began manufacturing
beryllium containing casting and master alloys at its Royersford, Pennsylvania
production facility in 1994. The company’s core expertise is melting
and casting beryllium copper and other beryllium containing alloys.
Melting and casting over one million pounds annually, Freedom Alloys
is a primary producer-supplier of beryllium copper casting and master
alloy ingot products in North America and markets around the world.
The company also manufactures the beryllium nickel and beryllium aluminum
families of alloy products.
As the business has grown, we
have invested in expanded production capacity and capability. Three
(3) InductoTherm air-melt induction furnaces provide 1200, 3000, and
5000-pound production volume capacity. Inert gas cover and degassing
technology is utilized for cleaner and more efficient melting and casting
operations. Automatic furnace controls and ingot mold conveyers efficiently
produce standard five-pound and two-pound ingot configurations.
At Freedom Alloys, all beryllium
alloys are manufactured utilizing either pure metallic beryllium or
certified beryllium copper master alloy. No recovered, recycled, or
purchased scrap is utilized in our standard production processes. Because
of top quality input materials and proprietary melt practices, ingot
and billet products from Freedom Alloys are among the cleanest and highest
quality in the industry.
The
company has strong technical and manufacturing engineering resources
in the highly specialized beryllium and beryllium containing alloy industry.
This expertise allowed the company to develop and integrate proprietary
direct chill VLT (Very Low Turbulence) semi-continuous casting technology
into a highly autonomous billet manufacturing cell. This effort has
resulted in a world class capability to manufacture large 21 inch diameter
beryllium copper input billets weighing up to two (2) metric tons. These
large scale as-cast billets exhibit consistently fine grained, uniform
micro-structures coupled with high purity, low carbide chemical compositions.
The capability to produce large
high quality production input billets has facilitated Freedom Alloys’
opportunity to manufacture and supply beryllium copper wrought products.
Large diameter input billets equate to larger and more size flexible
rod and plate configurations. It should be noted, forged beryllium copper
rod and plate products exhibit improved grain micro-structures with
more consistently homogeneous uniformity. Freedom Alloys supplies only
superior precision forged beryllium copper rod and plate products.
