International Beryllium Corporation (IBC) is a global exploration, development and manufacturing company focused on beryllium, beryllium oxides and beryllium master alloys. Beryllium and related alloys are used in a broad range of specialized industrial applications such as nuclear power, defense, electronics and automotive. International Beryllium's common shares are traded on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol IB.
International Beryllium Corporation is an emerging vertically integrated global beryllium company focused on every element of the mine to market value chain. Beryllium, and its related alloys and material forms, are in great demand and are used in a broad range of specialized and growing industrial applications including telecommunications, electronics and information technology, energy and nuclear power applications.
International Beryllium Corporation currently owns 100% of a beryllium property in the U.S., 100% of two beryllium properties in Brazil, and 90% of seven beryllium properties located in Uganda. Additional beryllium raw material properties in North America have recently been acquired and the company is in negotiations to acquire both additional upstream and downstream assets as it expands its core focus of consolidation and vertical integration across the mine to market value chain.
The Company has three specific strategic areas of focus:
To continue to acquire, explore and develop geographically diverse world class beryllium assets;
To acquire and/or develop modern and efficient beryllium and beryllium alloy processing facilities located within economic range of primary target markets
To acquire and develop first class marketing and international distribution assets for end market beryllium and beryllium alloy products
International Beryllium Corp. is building a strong foundation to become the first vertically integrated global leader in the specialized metals and beryllium materials sector. The Company has already attracted institutional investor support and is currently in advanced discussions with several recognized management leaders in the specialized metals sector to help build and implement IBC’s strategic business plan in this rapidly growing market.
Freedom Alloys, Inc. became a wholly owned subsidiary of International Beryllium Corp. in April of 2008 and was the first beryllium alloy product manufacturing operation to be acquired by IBC in North America.
"We are very pleased to have successfully completed the acquisition of Freedom Alloys", stated Anthony Dutton, President and CEO of International Beryllium. "We have already forged an excellent working relationship with their senior management and production team. Freedom Alloys is a profitable and growing company with a strong and expanding position in the global beryllium market", continued Dutton, "and is a cornerstone of IBC's core strategy of vertical integration and consolidation in the beryllium market".
"The acquisition of Freedom by IBC represents an important milestone for our company as we join forces with a shared vision and strategy for growth and expansion in the global beryllium and related alloys market," said Michael Fisher, CEO and Founder of Freedom Alloys. "We believe Freedom's experience and deep understanding of the beryllium market will make a significant contribution to the excellent potential of our combined company", continued Fisher, "and we are very excited by the growth opportunities we have already identified in the short time we have been working with International Beryllium".
The acquisition of Freedom Alloys by IBC will yield significant overall value and service benefits to our customers and supply partners around the world. Going forward, Freedom Alloys will have additional resources available to increase production capacity and expand its manufacturing capabilities to grow and support key market sectors.
